Q2 2025 saw a notable pickup in hedge fund activity, with several high-profile launches across the globe, reflecting growing investor interest in niche, performance-driven strategies.
Aaron Diamond, who previously ran one of the largest internal portfolios at Millennium Management, is returning to the scene with his former team under Verbena Value Capital Partners, a firm originally created as an internal platform within Millennium.
Also in San Francisco, Vikram Churamani is launching Trooper Capital Management, with the flagship Trooper Investments fund focusing on long/short opportunities across technology, consumer, and infrastructure sectors. Churamani previously managed capital at the family office of Bowman Capital founder Larry Bowman.
In Europe, former Citadel PM Seán Murphy has partnered with Owain Lewis, previously COO at Lijaro, to form Jerpoint Capital Management. The firm will run Murphy’s established long/short equity strategy.
Asia is also seeing fresh activity. In Hong Kong, Leping Wang, formerly of Lotus Asset Management, is preparing to launch AGT Capital, a systematic global macro fund trading across equities, fixed income, commodities, and FX. Meanwhile, in Singapore, ex-ACG Management professionals Taro Saito and Takashi Shimoyanagita are setting up PALM Investment Management, focused on Japanese equities using a multi-manager model.
