Our client is one of the world’s most successful hedge funds, with deep expertise across global fixed income, relative value, and derivatives strategies. With a highly sophisticated trading platform and best-in-class infrastructure, the firm is looking to add an Assistant Portfolio Manager (APM) to its London Bond Basis team.

The Bond Basis APM will work closely with senior portfolio managers to identify and execute opportunities in the bond basis space, focusing on government bonds, futures, and related instruments. The role combines quantitative research, trade structuring, and portfolio management support, offering clear progression toward running risk independently.
Key responsibilities
- Research and analyze bond basis opportunities across global rates markets.
- Support PMs in trade idea generation, structuring, and execution.
- Build and enhance tools for monitoring relative value, carry/roll dynamics, and liquidity.
- Develop and maintain pricing and risk models for cash/futures basis trades.
- Monitor PnL drivers, exposures, and market conditions to optimize portfolio performance.
- Collaborate with quants, technologists, and risk managers to enhance infrastructure.
Ideal profile
- 2–6 years’ experience in fixed income trading, strategy, or research with exposure to bond basis or relative value.
- Strong understanding of government bond markets, futures, repo, and derivatives.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or C++ with the ability to build robust analytics and models.
- Solid quantitative and analytical skills, with attention to detail in trade structuring.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
- Advanced degree in a quantitative or financial discipline preferred.
